Freedom Pass

I got an email this morning telling me that I can now only travel for free from 9am to 4.30pm. I am furious.  You can't give then take away.  Slippery slope towards getting rid of the whole thing.So, peoples, what can we do about this?  Sadly we can't go on strike.There must be something we can do.  Any ideas?

I don’t think it’s unreasonable actually: it keeps free travellers off the tubes at peak times, which isn’t unreasonable. If you are working, then it’s not unreasonable to pay. If you aren’t, then making appointments for after an 0900 journey, isn’t unfair.The freedom pass is, overall, such a boon, I’m not prepared to whinge…

The start time used to be 9:30 until about 10 years ago so you can say that we're winning.

Whilst the change in time is annoying I guess we should think ourselves lucky as the free bus pass in other places starts at 9:30 am and is only until 11:00 pm, so no late night travel.The 60plus pass is a real bonus too.I'm not supporting any political party here, just stating fact!

It's still an unacceptable restriction on previous, established use. The UK State Pension is one of the lowest in the western world and we don't get much, so restricting this VERY valuable Pass is just being vindictive, IMHO. Khan is full of justifications for all his appalling actions, which all so often bite mostly those who voted him back in!  😂 He hasn't got a clue and his priorities are political and all wrong, he's all over the place. He's been REALLY effective at concentrating on and tackling knife crime hasn't he?

4:30am till 9am. Sadiq Khan announced about about a week ago that the Covid curfew would become permanent.

The email I received said:  If you hold an Older Persons’ Freedom Pass you will need to pay for travel between 04:30 and 09:00 on weekdays.  You will still be able to travel free on TfL’s services from 09:00 on Mondays to Fridays and at all times during the weekends and bank holidays.So no need to panic - it's just making permanent the restriction that came in during the pandemic. Inconvenient if you have a very early appointment, but that's all...

I think the restriction is only from 04.30 until 09.00. That's what it says on the Freedom Pass website.
