I hope Rupa gets "un" suspended soon. I once wrote to her about an issue I was having and she responded really quickly and was very helpful. It was an unfortunate remark. I'm sure she will learn to keep her thoughts - even if true - to herself. In my dealings with people I have often said that someone does not sound "Irish" or "Scottish" or "Northern" (or whatever) and it was never said as a slur it was simply a fact. Politics is a dirty business and I hope Rupa recovers from this overblown off the cuff conversation.

My experience also is that Rupa does the job she was elected to do, available to constituents and assists where she can.

Rupa is a very kind lady. She has replied to all my emails past two years re all these t0wering blocks of iron and concrete, Is a voice in the wilderness when trying to ban the plans. She has signed all the petitions I have sent to her online. ie. Ban dog farms, export of live animals , stop making plastic ruin the environment, do something about fly tipping to name but a few. She is worried about the loss of family houses due to developers buying them and converting them into 4-5 flats , Kindly said if we notify her ofsuch a house in our area before the planning is passed, she will object on our behalf. . OK not a wise use of words but she HAS apologised. I have been told umpteen times I do not sound like a Northerner . So what ? I went to drama school and had elocution lessons. I don't sound like a Northerner now. . The Chancellor went to Eton so talks eloquently and has a better command of English than most of us. He was not offended ..only the wokes of this world had to say their piece. It was not a slur ..just a fact . Unfortunate remark perhaps but she did apologise .

Haha. Everyone has a go at someone on this forum. There seem to be a lot of very intolerant people around.

Yes i've never heard of you. I assumed your name was made up, bit like tory policies. Rupa crossed the line and deserves her punishment but dont preach to me tory. Doesnt fit.

Whataboutery and ad hominin, two other favourites of those who don't want to discuss the topic, which is Rupa's comments in case you've forgotten. Everyone on this forum knows I was once a Tory councillor (when we ran Ealing Council, happy days). Everyone but you it seems. Now, what was it you wanted to say about Rupa Huq?

Ah, gas lighting, the go to of anyone who doesn't want to stick to the subject at hand.

I think Mr Barchuk makes a fair and valid point.I always thought that PC Lefty Liberal Wokism would eat itself eventually, and so it has started? 😄

Theres a list as long as your arm of Tories making racist comments including the ex PM. I assume you're a tory. Oh very dear. No wonder you're so confused

Amazing how lefties will apologise for the racism of other lefties. If a Conservative MP had, for example, stated that Rupa didn't sound Asian, there would be howls of sanctimonious outrage and demands for resignations. We know what Rupa meant: that non-white people are betraying other non-white people if they support right wing parties. Much like when Joe Biden declared that if black people don't vote Democrat they aren't really black. That Rupa also managed to take a dig at Kwasi Kwarteng's private school education when she didn't go to a state school either shows the extent of her chutzpah. Still, if politically correct lefties didn't have double standards then I suppose they wouldn't have any standards at all.

I agree too. Rupa's a pretty good MP.Anyway, what she said was hardly racist. It was a clothed slag-off of the Eton elite. And why not?

Maybe a few letters of support for Rupa to Labour HQ would help. The Party has been criticised recently for its attention to anti-semitism and neglect of other forms of racism within the Party, so maybe this was seen as an opportunity to correct that impression. It's ironic that they chose to spring to the defence of a gilded Tory rather than address the many cases of racism against black and Asian people within the Party, such as the abuse of Diane Abbott and others. It wouldn't surprise me if Rupa has also been on the receiving end of such abuse, yet now she's been publicly labelled as a racist herself, despite a career given to fighting it.
