Three new blocks opposite Morrisons

Yesterday our street got notice (on those yellow A4 sheets beloved of the council) of a huge development opposite Morrisons, where there will be two high rise blocks and a third smaller building, plus an underground car park. This will be among the present blocks, Moreton tower etc. Am I the only one who thinks that this is too much? How many new flats does Acton need?

Whether its opposite Morrisons or Acton Main Line Station building unsuitable development will not provide sustainable communities. Students coming and going,  building flats at Park Royal for them is not the solution. Time will tell and eventually all of these developments will come to an end... but in the meantime Ealing residents will have to suffer unsightly high rise buildings flats that are too small for families and no proper or meaningful amenities...

I would also wager that many/most of these Labour voters are not owner-occupiers, and many of them transient, particularly students.Easy to vote for an ideology that includes the trashing of your neighbourhood, when you won't be around to have to live with it.......

Limited public seating so think about arriving outside the Town Hall from 6.30. Three large contentious Planning Apolications will be considered. It's unusual for so many to be crammed into one meeting and difficult for Councillors to get their heads round so much information. Apparently new legislation on safety will be implemented next month..

One of these blocks will be considered at Planning Committee next Wednesday evening 19th October. Along with the additional towers at Friary Park and q contentious development in west Twyford. Why not come along yourself and watch the debate?  7.30pm Town Hall. Limited public seating.

That was disingenuous crap that came out of the rectum of The New Dear Leader, Peter Mason, before the last Local Elections in May of this year, 2022. He in turn, politically, came out of the rectum of Julian Bell, his immediate predecessor as leader of Ealing Council.

I'm not a 100% sure, but I do know from speaking to Victor that a large number of the public spaces in the Borough were gifted by the Victorian developers. I can ask Victor about this

Nic, do you know if there is any guidance on the minimum amount of public space there should be per 1000 residents. I keep being told that North Acton in playing fields are quoted as available public space by all the High Rises in North Acton.

This existing park is there for existing residents watering it down to provide outside space for the new blocks will only deplete the limited space for Acton residents. You brought up the fact that there is a park nearby. I drew the point that that is how politician sell stupid ideas.. to fool citizens in believing that they are getting something new..

I didn't say that Springfield Gardens was specifically for the tower blocks but it's close to them and readily accessible to residents. The chances of them all going there at once seems small.You seem to think I'm a politician. I'm not.

That is not soley for the 2 blocks... and if everyone from the 2 blocks flocked to the park it would be overflowing springbidge park is there for everyone adding extra units only makes matters worse and you can't take this away. what you are saying is typical politicians talk the argument still stands the lack of good quality space in Acton is lacking for people in high rise flats.

The social impact on the surrounding area will be devastating. The lack of outside space for the existing residents is chronic... The poor facilities for families is higher in tower blocks than houses with outdoor spaces.. Ealing Council policy is to discourage driving this application has car parking spaces in the design.And what about the environmental impact, grid capacity and fire safety. Will these issues be addressed by the planning committee or will they just like always turn a blind eye and allow the application to be granted. In a recent article Labour MP Andrew Slaughter mentioned single staircase blocks in Ealing and the lack of thought to address this critical concern in the design stage and allow the planning permission.
