Vue Cinema Park Royal

I noticed that this had an Odeon sign instead of Vue when I passed by recently. I thought it might have been an old sign uncovered but I only remember it as a Warner Village cinema before becoming Vue. Does anyone know if it's going to reopen as an Odeon?

There is more detail on the front page.The Luxe brand is more expensive. The last time I went to one it was £18 - admittedly that was in the West End although it was discounted to £9 for Meerkat Movies. My recollection of the former Vue at Park Royal is that it was popular with families because of the parking and easy access from a big catchment area to the west of London. Not sure a 'premium experience' is going to matter much to this kind of customer particularly if you are bring kids who won't care about the leg room or what wines they have in the bar.

So, the choice will be to drive, possibly sit in traffic, pay exhorbitant prices in a soulless multiplex for mass produced food and drink or.....walk to a small, local independent cinema where the food and drink are actually drinkable and edible, watch films  in comfort and then walk back home.  I think I prefer ActOne anyday!

Today's Times Business reports that Odeon has announced a new 9-screen 'Luxe' in 'Acton', which must be the Park Royal site.Good news.

I love the seats at Act One! Wide and plenty of leg room.As for getting to Park Royal, I always went in via West Acton thus avoiding the A40 loop.

I heard a quite a while back that it would be reopening as an Odeon but thought the plan had been abandoned due to the pandemic. Never found the experience at the Vue Park Royal to be that great and Westfield is handier if you really want the multiplex experience. ActOne will remain the best option.

Could never work out a pleasant way to get there as driving involved a big loop via the A40 and public transport involved walking next to the A40. Whereas ActOne is just a short walk for me and apart for the unforgiving seats is a much more pleasant experience.

It had a number of names but never Odeon. It was a very useful place, easy to park. Fingers crossed for an Odeon but nothing about it on their website.
