Ukraine
There are anything between 100,000 to 300,000 Armenians living in Ukraine. Many are caught up in the hardships and sufferings taking place in that country. Many have become refugees, some for a second time following the 1990 Armenian pogroms in Azerbaijan and the 2020 invasion of Artsakh/Nagorno Karabakh with the support of NATO member Turkey. While my heart pleads for the suffering in Ukraine for everyone, what we are also witnessing is "selective compassion ", "selective sanctions", "selective media coverage" for those living in mainland Europe. A wrong is wrong irrespective of time and space. Equality means compassion and justice for all those who are being victimized, occupied or bullied. "Who after all remembers the Armenians" asked Hitler justifying his actions. Who now remembers what transpired in Cyprus 48 years ago with the Turkish invasion and occupation of that island. Where are the outcries for the people of Yemen, Kurdistan and Palestine? One day sadly no one will remember what is happening in Ukraine, apart of course the relatives and friends of those who are losing their lives/homes/livelihoods while the arm sellers/politicians will continue to profit as usual.
