Londoners injured in road crashes halved in LTNs

And this gem :-But there was not a “statistically significant” drop in the number of cyclist injuries. became interested in this thread as part of the LTN impact.  Not sure the evening standard has done a very good job here, your questions should have been asked at least at the stage of printing.  Looking up the authors of the report I think a bit of source critique would be prudent!  Good capture and the importance of dealing only in facts!

A case of dodgy analysis of statistics. If you look at the report, it defines the LTN area as roads more than 25 metres within the LTN boundary and the LTN boundary areas as road within 25 metres of a LTN boundary roads ie, roads both inside and outside the LTN area. The report gives no reason for defining the areas like this. Common sense would say one should look at the whole LTN area separating from the area outside it. This type of arbitrary defining of the boundaries looks like someone trying to get the result they decided they wanted before starting the study.
