Why can't 'open and transparent' Ealing Council answer a simple question?

When the new broom came to be head Ealing Council we were promised that this would mark a new era of openness and transparency. However this is impossible to believe given that the council weren't prepared to answer a simple question about the Stirling Road dump. Instead we have to find out important information through the onsite staff. There was also an unwillingness to explain the huge rise in parking permit charges for NHS staff which meant that the financial benefit of the exemption they gave during the pandemic was effectively wiped out on renewal. A lack of willingness to engage and inform seems to be a common feature of the old and the new reqime.

History teaches us every new regime comes in with similar promises which soon are broken when the realities of government become apparent.It could be that the old attitude at Ealing Council of not telling residents about anything unless they absolutely have to remains or there could be some issue with the negotiations with unions over the reallocation of staff. If it is the latter there is still no reason not to give a holding statement with an indication of when the closure date would be confirmed. At this stage all we can conclude is that if they are not denying 28 November then it probably is 28 November.
