As I have said, the very outdated software doesn't help either.The lack of Bold, Italics or Underline being particularly irksome.As is the very user unfriendly means of posting a simple pic.

It used to be much busier so I thin it's that the facebook groups/twitter etc are now more popular.It's not like there aren't enough local issues to be going on with.Anyone heard about the plans to increase the Friary towers to even more towering?Or the LTNsOr what the new cinema might show.Or bike lanes - that's usually good for a little excitement....

Yes, as a born-again Actonian, I like to think so :-)But you seem to be implying that a forum needs to be full of moaning in order to thrive.  Acton’s most successful thread is Film Reviews, Chiswick’s is perhaps the recent one about former residents.  Both pretty much moanless!

Rosco, I’m not sure you can complain about an inactive forum if you are not willing to continue a thread that you yourself started.  Isn’t there more to be said on this one?  I put forward a couple of ideas in response to yours expecting to get a response from you (and others, hopefully) but apparently you have nothing to add.  And meanwhile you start a couple of new threads.  This tends to confirm my point that it’s not so much about ‘controversial’ new threads as about willingness to engage with others.  I may be wrong, I may be right, the floor is yours.

As much as new software might be appealing I suspect that what this forum needs is a hard core of regulars - possibly about twenty or thirty such people - who are happy to be regulars and willing to post on a wide variety of topics about once a day and to interact in a friendly way with other posters.  I think ‘controversial’ postings are as likely to put people off as attract them.  Once non-regulars visit the site and see that it is busy and friendly then they may stay or at least visit more often.  If I worked for NeighbourNet then I might suggest that certain sorts of directed advertising (payments) might help bring this about.That’s just my impression having been a semi regular on the rather busier Chiswick equivalent forum for several years.
