Barclays Acton High Street closing

Barclays Acton High Street will be closing on Friday 4th June 2021: three months time. A town centre with neither banks nor a post office.A shopping centre they've admitted they can't get anyone to move into.More and more flats being built, yet no banks, post office nor shops. Welcome to Acton: the Cinderella of the borough.

Absolutely endorse this. You can work online or by phone - phone people always courteous and happy to assist. Pay in cheques at any HSBC branch. Have never had a problem. Rarely recommend anything, but in this case I do.

I highly recommend first direct. I have banked with them pretty much since they started in 1989. They are excellent! I have never had cause to complain.

I went today, and had to queue outside for quite a while.  Also went last week: again - had to queue.If they don't value us as a community that needs a bank, I no longer value them as a bank I wish to bank with, so will shortly be closing my account with them.

At around 1pm while passing on the bus, I saw there was a queue of about 10 people outside Barclays Bank. Not to mention, how many were inside. I'm pretty sure they must have more than 100 customers going through the door if not more every day.

The Barclays building is rather nice, if it's the one I'm thinking of. Pity if it's left boarded up.

I have been reading some of the stats about justifying closing. One of them is only 21 customers are using the branch exclusively for their banking. I am gobsmacked. The bank is always in use with large queues.I have sent a complaint to Steve Day and hope there is some sort of appeal process. Terrible.

The Brentford branch is also due to close in June.There is a petition, for what good it will do.

Oh for goodness sake, not another bank closure in Acton High Street. I guess this is all geared to pushing everyone into online banking. NO THANKS!They can't even be bothered to serve customers at the counter nowadays. Slowly over recent years the banks decided to have fewer tellers helping customers.Now they only open for a few hours each week. Queues form outside waiting  for service. What on earth is going on?Savers get no interest on their money, banks use our cash but are unwilling to provide a local service for long suffering customers.We desperately need to stop this situation getting worse. Customers need access to their own money and if people prefer to use CASH then we need that choice.Not every one can get to Ealing Broadway, especially with fewer pep[le using public transport. The elderly will find getting access to their money more difficult!With the tower blocks popping up everywhere it is disgraceful that Acton no longer has a decent Post Office and soon we won't even have a bank in this locality!How can pensioners access their money?We need to attract more businesses into the High Street before Acton becomes a ghost town.Acton really is the Cinderella borough!

According to bank chiefs, more & more customers choose to bank  online.Well I don’t but have no choice as they force you.If you go in branch all they spout is “this can be done online”.Phone the bank & it’s endless waffle about  online banking.Perhaps on occasions when it works, all well & good.However when it fails, as it frequently does, people - employees, a real person is what I want.For that reason I will never use the new Amazon shop in Ealing.It’s our, your jobs going while the fat cats get richer

The traffic management of Uxbridge Road, the introduction of LTN's will only drive people away I hear that Churchfield Road will be subjected to the new wave of LTN restrictions.. Ealing Council has no idea on how to sustain a local high street. The new look Acton High Street will be full of chicken shops and boarded up shops, they will eventually be converted into slum style flats. Just look at the failed Acton Library closed an asset given to us "Acton residents". The only way to get ride of this Labour Council and the so called Councilors is to vote them out.. The sooner the better until then more of our shops and amenities we need will go the same way.

Ever since the "Borough of Acton" went under the care of the borough of ealing. Things JUST WENT DOWNHILL. There was so many Jewellery shops, Shoe shops etc etc  A High Street to cater for all needs. Not to mention the banks / building societies : 2 Natwest's, Hsbc, Santander, Nationwide, Halifax, Woolwich etc etc etc. GIVE BACK OUR BOROUGH. And let's make Acton great again.

Its a disgraceful decision. Currently been open only 2 days a week and last time I looked no counter service.

Appalling, isn't it.And depressing too.It's almost like there's some sort of Grand Plan to drive Acton into the ground.
