Wearing masks in Lidl

Am I behind the curve here? There were so many customers wearing masks round their necks or chins today I eventually asked a supervisor about the Lidl policy. He told me that Lidl Head office had ruled customers were not to be accosted as it might be necessary to call the police and everyone would just waste time. I thought we had agreed that this virus was more likely to be passed on in food outlets than in schools or residential care homes. If that's true why aren't the supermarkets a little more vigilant on behalf of their staff if not the other customers?

Completely agree with Sue. But perhaps Lidl themselves could help? Extra signs reminding people the mask needs to cover mouth and nose, an additional more senior staff member politely reminding people might do the trick. Unlike other business they continue to do well. For the sake of their own staff they could make a little extra effort. Shouldn't be long now.

I can see why ordinary shop workers don't want to confront people and put themselves at risk of aggression, but on the couple of times I've been into Lidl, there was a security guard at the door. He should be refusing entry to the maskless.
