MJog? Airmid? NHS App? What next?

I have been receiving messages from my surgery about different apps. I do not know if these are recommended by the surgery or whether the surgery has been asked to send out messages on behalf of a third party. (I have also had a text about Ealing Law Centre) MJog messenger was the first one. I got a message telling me to download it so I could get a reminder message about an appointment. I registered then I realised I could still get reminder text messages from the surgery so I uninstalled it. It seems difficult to Unregister.Then it was the NHS app which seemed a good idea replacing the old surgery portal. I went through hoops to verify my ID and then realised I couldn't book a flu jab online but should be useful. Today I have received a message about Airmid App. It seems to do the same things as the NHS App, (view your records, see results etc)Has anyone heard of it? Are other surgeries suggesting these apps?

I don't think so. I think that app designers are being encouraged by NHSX to develop apps that link up to the NHS login and then the users use their login details. I don't think they can access records.

So our personal medical records and transactions are being handled and presumably monitored by multinational private companies? Did we agree to this?

Thank you. Your response is helpful. One of the things that bothers me is the tone of the messages. For example. "To receive a reminder for your upcoming appointment download the MJog Messenger app."That is the whole message excluding the link. I thought I had no choice if I wanted a reminder.

Sorry should have said I work for a local Practice and am part of the Acton Network (all the local GPs working together).  I'm happy to try to answer questions or feedback any requests for specific information about the apps etc.

All the GP Practices in Acton (and most of London and large part of the country) use a clinical system called SystmOne TPP.  Unfortunately when SystmOne developed their new app they called it Airmid  (practices fed back this would cause confusion but the advice was not heeded).  Airmid is a secure, legitimate app though that links to your GPs clinical system.The NHS App has been promoted by Practices and is useful for most patients needs eg to order a repeat prescription, submit an e-consultation and view their patient record.  The suggested additional benefit of the Airmid app is that as well as prescription requests and appointment booking etc because of the way it connects to the clinical system  it allows patients to directly input a blood pressure, weight etc for monitoring purposes. It is also likely to be the system used for video consultations with patients in the future (the software all Practices are currently using is free at the moment but looks set to charge from March).In answer to one question yes, Practices have been instructed to promote online usage to patients and to promote the use of both the NHS app and Airmid as part of increasing digital access across the NHS.Acton practices are working together to produce some clear material for patients as the number of apps and the specific benefits of each is confusing.

I think Airmid is the first of many. I want to be able to opt out of marketing from my surgery. I had one about Airmid today (Crown St Surgery) and have never heard of it.What are the advantages? Anyone know?
