I had a similar experience a few years ago. 3 separate damp specialists quoted me different amounts for various works and treatments - all in the thousands - for the same damp problem.’ One even suggested dismantling half the kitchen.We ended up fixing it ourselves by repointing the brickwork outside with some ready mixed cement that cost about a tenner on the advice of our decoratorBe very wary of damp “specialists”.  The previous suggestion of a trusted builder is a good one.

After a shocking quote of almost £15k we fixed our damp proofing by buying an industrial dehumidifier For £150 off eBay, putting a vent through our wall to allow air to circulate outwards and not build up moisture and then painting the dryed out brickwork with bitumen water seal paint to stop it coming back in. No issues since we did it 3 years ago. There are plenty of videos on YouTube that help and it’s generally an easy and inexpensive thing to fix. Beware the cowboys as there are plenty that massively over quote for this type of work.

Totally agree.I had flameproofing done with a 25 year guarantee.Had problems after 5 years.the paperwork is not worth the writing it is written on.The company went bankrupt.Checked out some sites and my builders fixed the problem.They are ordinary builders but they solved the problem.Good luck with it.

Just be VERY wary, as I am sure you will be. Many of these DP firms are notorious for vastly overstating what needs doing.
