I'm sure you have Googled and "studied up" on damp and how to rectify it?My experience of Damp Proof Companies is that they will wildly exagerate your problem thereby hugely inflating the price you need to pay for what only actually requires fixing. Obviously I'm not saying they are all like that but when I had a damp problem they ALL were!FYI, in my case, it was simply the type of plaster encouraging the damp to "creep" up the wall. I replaced the small affected section with concrete infused with a water proofer and problem gone and never came back. They all said it was a serious problem and wanted thousands for something which cost me about a £2 to fix.
