Ha Ha, BellEnd and The Local Labour Party of course!Patently obvious if you've ever witnessed the supposedly "independent" Planning Committee in action.And I’d have a word with your own Jon Ball before writing such articles Cllr. Steed, he's a bit of a loose cannon who doesn't seem to agree with you and loves tower blocks?!  :-"For local government to work Liberal Democrats believe that planning decisions must be taken locally but the process must be fair, transparent and involve all the residents and groups who might be affected by a development. This just doesn’t happen and so many decisions leave residents feeling that their views have been ignored."

Ultimately policy is set by central government and right now they are determined to protect the green belt (i.e. Home Counties Tory voting constituencies) and transfer the pressure to keep up with housing demand on predominantly Labour voting London. There would be huge demand for homes in places like Maidenhead or other towns on the western section of Crossrail but much more restrictive planning rules make major developments less viable. As a result it has to be in London and with space limited it has to go up. While you can criticise Ealing Council for the enthusiasm with which it has embraced this necessity, you have to recognise it wasn't their idea originally.

After the news coming out that no one knew what they were doing in the Grenfell Towers incident,how certain are we that this is not going to happen again too one of these tower blocks,is Ealing Council satisfied they are safe,has a fully qualified Fire Safety Officer been involved,I hope so,A ex Senior Fire Safety Officer.
