Local lock down?

See the front page : "As we carefully emerge from lockdown, it is important now more than ever that Londoners continue to follow government advice on social distancing, self-isolation, wearing face coverings".I hardly see anyone wearing a face covering (and I live on a main road with lots of passing foot  fall) and social distancing especially in shops, is practically non existent. Can I make a plea to everyone - please follow the one way signs in shops. I have lost count of the number of times people are coming towards me completely oblivious of the floor markings. I have stopped challenging them as some are so rude!

Well if the WHO are right, and the virus is airborne, then medical FFP2/KN95 masks are the only protection, no amount of social distancing indoors will be of any use.https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-53329946

I have to say I was struck by how many more people I saw wearing face coverings in and around Acton High Street and its shops, compared with hardly any in and around the shops in Chiswick High Road.

There is a massive difference between those who were supposedly "influenced" to break the rules by Cummings' activities as opposed to those who intended to/were/would have broken them all along anyway, and he just happened to provide a very convenient excuse.Anyway, it's a Forum and it's good that opinions differ.Agree about masks not strictly necessary on the open street, but in shops/enclosed environs it's clearly a no-brainer.On that point it would seem most of Acton is lobotomised.

I think Dominic Cummings was extremely important. And it did gain what they call in the trade "cut-through" or "traction".Police reported loads of people, when challenged, said if DC could do it, they could too. And there was no real answer.Now Stanley Johnson evades the rules us little people are supposed to obey and the government sends out messaging as mixed as it possibly can.I don't think it's surprising people don't wear masks in the street - it's not really necessary in the open air, after all. More worrying that they don't in shops.

I doubt very, VERY much that Mr Cummings activities had ANY bearing whatsoever on The Great British Public's decisions regarding social distancing, wearing a mask/gloves, washing hands with soap regularly, etc.Most of them haven't a clue who he even is.
