High pitched machinery noise in West Acton - Goods Rail Yard?

There is a very annoying loud, high pitched noise from some sort of machinery, I thought we were in lock down with all industry shut down?Not sure where it's coming from but maybe the Goods Rail Yard off Horn Lane?This is definitely ruining the peace and quiet we might have expected for at least a few weeks.Anyone know where it is coming from and the cause?

I've just tried to complain to TfL. Just before submit form is an I'm not a robot with photos of stairs. I cannot make them all out so it has rejected my form. This is new for their complaint forms. I can only imagine it is to make sure that passengers and other victims cannot complain. I do not know who invented this I'm not a robot thing but as a short-sighted pensioner I hope the rot in the ninth circle of Hell for all eternity.

It's been blasting away throughout the lockdown. The female announcer blared in through my window in a thoroughly invasive fashion around 5pm. I'll rattle TfL's and Crossrail's cages again.

The Noise Nuisance I allude to had moved location today and seemed to be emanating from the Friary area, and southwards.Given that, I am coming round to thinking it is possibly/probably street cleaning machinery or similar, these things do make a considerable and invasive racket that travels a long way.Regarding the AML excessive volume PA system, I think I got that stopped. I put in a Complaint to TFL who were quite receptive (it's not Network Rail's responsibility) and within a fortnight it had ceased. Regarding the various Noise Nuisances around AML/the Goods Rail Yard we really do have to pull together and Complain immediately and regularly.  If we don't challenge and Complain about any new/unresolved Noise Nuisance then it will simply become a normal and "acceptable" part of the soundcscape and we will end up living with an accumulated, unbearable Daily Cacophony of Noise.Regardless of what LBE thinks, this is a very residential, suburban area, not an Anything Goes Industrial Estate.

I tried to post a message about an hour ago to say that I heard a low vibration yesterday between 6and 6:30pm. I have heard it before but thought that it was a vacuum cleaner or washing machine in Acton House. I checked my windows and it was definitely external. I am going to try to post this.By the way, we have had the station PA system turned up throughout the lock-in much to the enjoyment of the residents of the rear of Acton House and Lynton Terrace.

High pitched racket again today, seems to be from Acton Mainline station vicinity, anyone else can hear it, it's very loud & intrusive?Was happening this morning, stopped around 11:30 am and started again bang on 12 midday, just stopped now at 12:04 but will undoubtedly strike up again.Definitely a Statutory Noise Nuisance by any standards.

"Air Raid Siren" turbine like noise again now, at 21:54 and been going for a while, this is not acceptable at this time of night. Hard to ascertain but seems to be somewhere round Acton Main Line, anyone else can hear it, know what the cause is?If these Noise Nuisances don't get stopped in their tracks they become established and more Noise Nuisances will follow.

Similar high pitched "turbine" like noise again today and previous days, but now seems to be emanating from the Friary/Emanuel Avenue area, or towards Central Acton.Wonder if it's the street cleaning machinery? The vacuumers on that do tend to make a huge racket.

Could it be anything to do with HS2 construction. I keep reading work is going on but I dont really know?

Thanks Allan, in this instance I'm pretty sure it was the construction work at Acton Mainline, as Naweed suggested.We'll have far more serious Noise Nuisances to be concerned about though if the second Quattro Concrete Batching Plant gets built, the current Hanson Concrete Plant generates enough disturbance.Thanks again for your contribution, it all helps.

I think it's the trains in Acton Yard; they emit all kinds of loud noises, including some very high pitched (and long duration) ones. I would love to be able to do something about it!

They have been doing some pile driving at building site half way up Creswick Road.

Could be the construction works for the new Acton Mainline station.
