No rain

It has barely rained since before the lockdown started. Can I remind people to water young trees on their street as if we end up with a dry summer they might not survive and no one from the council will be doing it right now.

I've seen some in parks too which need watering. YOu can take action yourself if you can with a milk 'jug' filled with water and you can also email the Ealing Council for Ealing trees:  trees@ealing.gov.uk  telling them exactly where any trees are which need attention.  If they are not working you will get an automatic message telling you which of the officer's emails is relevant to the ward you are in.

Just wanted to bump this. On my now daily walk, I have been seeing some particularly dru trees. Rosemont Road was particularly bad, Goldsmith Ave as well.

Good to see that you are taking care of the trees. Libby have you asked for one?  (Maybe not the right time - but who knows they may be working from home.)  Where's that old thread where Rosco documented asking for a tree?You've reminded me that I walked past some at midday the other day and one had leaves looking a bit droopy.  Some have those black pipes at their bases and some don't.  I wonder why there is a difference?

If your street is a bit barren of trees LBE will happily consider planting some.I made a polite request and they planted three to "see how they fare" and said they would plant more if these survived and thrived.SOME LBE Departments are actually a pleasure to deal with and are not just there wasting space in their "Job For Life" uselessness.Contact:  trees@ealing.gov.uk

They have planted loads of trees in South Acton  park next to the overgroundThey look fabulousHopefully the park guys  give them water.

I was always told that Germans were expected to clear the snow from the pavement outside their house. We were so pleased to get a replacement street tree so soon after its predecessor had been removed that we're quite happy to water it and plant a few flowers round it.

For goodness sake water the trees and stop moaning about 'doing council's work'. Who cares what they do in Germany just use some common sense. Get a watering can and generate some community spirit. Take it in turns with your neighbours and in a couple of years you'll all appreciate the result.

Yes, please look after any new trees.  Even when it rains it is often not enough.
