Electric Scooters on Acton High Street

Braved the High Street recently to top up on some stores. Thought I would wander down to Morrisons but the queue was very long. On the way several people on electric scooters whizzed passed me in either direction. I can understand the logic of using them at the moment but a collision seems inevitable at some point and aren't they illegal both on the pavement and the road?

It must be impossible for an electric scooter rider to plot a route that's two metres away from everyone they weave past - and they can't be using it for exercise! They're illegal anyway, and doubly anti-social now.

They have to set priorities given their limited resources at the moment but some clear official guidance would be good. The concern I would have is that because there are some steep parts of the High Street these scooters can get up to quite some speed and a collision would cause serious injury.

These scooters are illegal but there are no police to enforce the law.

They are still illegal (police in London ran a mass confiscation event last year near London Bridge).However, it looks like things will change soon.There are 4 areas in the country that will be running official trials - Acton High Street is not one of them.https://www.gov.uk/government/news/new-transport-tech-to-be-tested-in-biggest-shake-up-of-laws-in-a-generation

I believe they are now legal on the road this is a recent development, I heard it on the News. I can't see them being legal on pavements though.
