Dead fox

I found a dead fox in my garden yesterday, it had been kipping in our shed on and off over the last few weeks.  It had no mark on it.  Of course foxes do die of natural  causes but several people have already mentioned another dead fox on the vale.I just wanted to put this out in case it was part of a pattern and these deaths are more sinister.

Whether or not foxes are considered as vermin, they eat rats, so on balance, for me, I leave 'em alone.

My lovely, beautiful fox with injured leg was still alive two days ago but haven't seen her the  last two evenings - however, food was gone by the next day.  The last time I saw her a couple of days ago (she - I think) comes when I call - was quite a way from her usual site, so think some major disturbance has happened. Love my little foxie, hope s/he dodges the cold, rain, lack of food, traffic and imbeciles who want to do them harm.

I have been feeding two foxes on the industrial estate that borders Southfield Playing Fields for around a year now.  I haven’t seen the shyer one since December 28th.  The bolder one was there, but I noticed he/she had injured her rear left leg, and was holding it up.  The last time I saw him/her was 30th December.  No sign of either since then.  It will be awful if it was these two, they were beautiful and joyous.  There was a report of a poisoned fox behind Hatfield Road a few months ago. A different fox kipped on my wall overnight yesterday.

Foxes eat rats which may have enough poison in them to kill a couple of people. If you care about foxes do not put out rat poison.
