Broadband provider

Thinking of switching broadband provider... Have looked at comparison sites such as Money Saving Expert, but interested to hear recommendations (or warnings!) from local people.

Plusnet is owned by BT but runs as a separate company. I recently saw a claim that they are not amongst the best providers, but no problems for me so far other than no IPv6 yet. There is a chance that BT Openreach may decide that it would be cheaper to put this line of old houses on FTTP than re-route all from a different cabinet when the current one is removed for road layout changes, and then I will be forced to change ISP. We are already surrounded by new-build houses, flats, and huge skyscrapers that are already on FTTP.

With BT at the moment but, as you say, can be quite pricey. John Lewis seem to have a good deal; I think they use the Plusnet network.

I know there are often complaints about them, but I've been with BT for years and have had no major problems. Speeds are very good, very few interruptions to service, but a bit expensive if you have unlimited use. Depending on how much you use broadband, you may be able to get away with a cheaper package.
