Are going to be toilets in the Oaks shopping centre< if no why?

Acton deserves all the help it can get to improve as a shopping area that's got variety and is safe and interesting for all.So what if there is no toilet - if there was then it wouldn't take long before people moan about the conditions and hygiene needing a team of 4 to clean it.Why no Seating - wait till it's full but if seating is provided please don't moan about youngsters sitting there drinking and smoking - OK?The centre will fill - patience dear locals!The car park is often very busy - so more people can get into ActonThere are new homes for new Acton residents.Prefer Hanwell LIDL - bye-bye then!!Don't like LIDL vegetables - so what - don't knock choice - go to Morrison or the abundance of superb middle eastern shopsWhat a fresh change

Went to a meeting recently with Councillor Dan Crawford in attendance. The question about no toilets or seating at Oaks came up. He said the developer had in their plans for some and would be contacting them to find out why it changed.This would never happen in Ealing.

The fact that the image still contains a Waitrose just about sums up how much the company who built this and the people who are trying to rent out the units care about and understand the demographic in Acton......

The article on the front page (with the picture of Waitrose!) states:'The store has a 974m² sales area and features an in-store bakery, longer-style tills with dual packing, customer toilets, baby changing andparking for both cars and bicycles.'So, there will be customer toilets!

The planners who took on the Oaks...well I wonder if they have set foot in the place. It's like the Mary Celeste in there...what a sad landmark for Acton...I'm almost afraid to go in there it's just a tad depressing.What a missed opportunity for Acton so let's hope something wonderful can happen to the old library.

Is that true about the Putt in the Park toilets? I thought they changed them purely to stop queues of women hanging around while the men's was empty - there's many more women than men go there (I suppose with the kids). It doesn't bother me and now there's no queue. Incidentally I did notice they put up a sign saying the toilets were for customers only which isn't true. The toilets in the park are for all park users so if they stop you, point them in the direction of the council. It was part of the deal of them taking over the old bowling green.

Gender Neutral toilets, what a stupid idea, wonder which faction of modern society dreamed that one up?No idea if toilets are legally required in shopping centres. If so, it may depend on the size/footfall of the centre?  No doubt someone learned in such things will post, I can't be backsided to google it.    😉

Is it a legal requirement to have toilets in a shopping centre? Anyone know?My only concern would be that if they did have toilets, the council would insist - as they have at Putt in the Park - that the toilets are gender neutral, so everyone would have to share the same toilets.  That would be a definite no from me!

You might be right, but Planning could have inserted Conditions (Oh, how they love their "Conditions") which would ensure hygienic standards are maintained, at risk of being fined.There was just no will was there?  And that pertains to many aspects of this oh so suspect development.

It may be deliberate.  Remember how awful the toilets in the Oaks were before?  Constantly filthy, a haven for drug users.There are toilets in Morrisons and lots of cafes/restaurants on the High Street.

If we had a Planning Department anywhere near fit for purpose such matters would have been insisted upon as standard practice, before Planning Permission was even considered, let alone granted.Figure out for yourselves what's going on.

Sadly it does not look like it!  Some seating would be welcome too but again the developers seem to have overlooked the comfort of shoppers visiting The Oaks.
