Friars Gardens - lady didn't pick up after her Cockapoo pooed at 10.40am today
As a resident involved in the gardening of Friars Gardens, I am tired of seeing - from my study window overlooking the green - dog walkers ambling off (or looking at their mobile phones) while their dog is squatting and clearly about to poo. At each gardening session, we regularly find 5 to 6 fresh dollops of dog mess. We're tired of treading in it. And we want children to use the green, but dog poo is highly toxic and can blind, so dog-walkers who don't pick up are selfishly preventing kids from sharing the green. Dog poo is also really damaging to the plants, it doesn't just harmlessly degrade. This morning at roughly 10.40 whilst opening my curtains in my front bedroom, I saw a beautiful largish fluffy toffee-coloured dog - perhaps a Cockapoo or some kind of poodle cross - squatting at the southern tip of the green. The owner was some way away, but when the dog started to squat, she saw this and turned her back and walked further away. She did not come and check, but I did. A big fresh dollop of poo under the birch tree. She had gone by the time I got fully dressed and out there, but otherwise I would have spoken with her.So if anyone knows this person (lady in her fifties with shortish hair), please tell her that we know what she looks like and her distinctive looking dog and we will be looking out for her. We speak to the park ranger regularly about offenders and moreover he has the power to issue Fixed Penalty Notices. If you use Friars Gardens to walk your dog, we are delighted to welcome you, but it is not your dog's toilet, so bring a bag, watch your dog and please please pick-up.
