Good old Sir George

Longstanding residents will remember our old MP (from 1974 to 1997), Sir George Young. He was well known as the bicycling baronet and a good MP. I had correspondence with him in the 1990s over the flood risk to basement flats in Horn Lane (since fixed); he was very helpful with letters to Thames Water (as indeed was his successor Clive Soley). He has just resigned from the Government as a House of Lords whip over Boris's suspension of parliament.

I was rather proud of him when he announced his resignation - at least our former MP - and jolly good he was too - is standing up for what he believes in (I'm not saying our current one isnt either btw, just that few Conservative MPs - even those who said prorogation was a dreadful idea, have been brave enough to actually Do anything)

He was my MP too, though I never had to call on his services, and an old Etonian, proving that they aren't all bad.

Yes, he was/is very good, I have letters from him dated early 80s regarding his assistance with the Noise and Air Pollution from the Rail Goods Yard in Horn Lane!A Good Geezer undoubtedly.  :-)
