No bins collected

We are down as normal day pick  up still not picked up Meon rd

Considering we are not supposed to leave our bins out on the pavements and the collectors are supposed to return them onto our properties it means that there are a collection of bins out for half the holiday.

One of the issues with reporting it on-line is that it is only for when your property is missed but the street was done ... at least, that is what they say on the form.To quote: "Please only report a missed collection if:...you are certain that the collection crew have already visited your road (please note that your food waste may be collected at a different time to your rubbish or recycling)"I assume that this is because they reckon that they know when an entire street is missed but it would be good if they published somewhere which streets they know they missed and when they will be back .. or they could accept the report of the missed collection and respond immediately on the web page to say that they know that the street was missed and that it is scheduled for XXX.

Collection a day late is quite usual round here, and bank holidays don't seem to make any difference. I've given up reporting it on line. I would think only one collection in four is made on the appointed day - blue bins being especially bad. Food waste is always collected on time - gold star for them!

Maybe because of fewer bins out they try and amalgamate more than one collection route?  We don't always bother to put stuff out for every collection anyway and have noticed that it is the BH collections which are more often problematical.  It's such a pain putting stuff out and then not knowing whether to bring it in or not.  Also wonder whether they have more difficulty getting people to work on BH.  Always good to know your neighbours so you can share space (with agreement) with them when necessary or a trip to recycling centre/WEEE bank/shoes bank  or the recycling bank with extra cardboard etc.You would think they could get around quicker with less traffic wouldn't you?Mind you I met a collector elsewhere several weeks ago and found he was the driver and was working on his own!  He said his colleague was ill.

Could it be that they collected a bit earlier than normal on the Bank Holiday because of fewer collections to make and less traffic?

Spoke to the collection guys no way can they do all on same day run-over all the time

Are they having problems catching up after a public holiday?I know that things were changed a while ago so that collections still went ahead on public holidays - but maybe they have struggled to keep up because of summer holidays reducing the number of available staff or maybe the upcoming change of contract to bring it in-house is causing some issues.Scheduled recycling collection not made on two streets in central Acton yesterday - food waste was collected though.

So agree I have twice emailed on two different occasions problems but never had a reply from Mr Sabiers. Bassam always replied.  I have it on good authority that the council keep adding extra streets to the bin round so that they now (in my area at least ) have to leave some of the streets to the next day. Why don't the council just tell us what the new day is? I have been reporting missed collections when in fact the council has planned them. Mr Sabiers how about an explanation?

Normal Ealing Council snafu. Hard to imagine a less competent administration.  And while Bassam Mahfouz did a good job in communicating with residents on refuse and street cleaning issues during the last administration, his successor as Council lead for Environment and Transport, Mik Sabiers, seems to be an invisible waste of space. Although he does seem to find time to write gig reviews for the communist Morning Star newspaper.
