Acton Community Forum

A google search tells me that Acton Community Forum, based in Hanbury Road, are no more. They were supposed to have made arrangements for, among other things, the preparation and administration of the entire ground floor of Lyra Block 2 in North Acton, which was supposed to be for local community use since the block was built several years ago. It has been totally empty until recently when a couple of tables and a few chairs appeared.So what now?Ealing Council have still not completed the infamous North Acton Square, and appear totally unable to manage anything.

Although the forum itself is no more, Rachel Pepper who was one of its main leaders is still around as I saw her today on the South Acton Estate with a group of primary school kids so I think you might find there is still something along the lines of the ACF in operation, although I could'nt tell you what it would be called.

So the usual Complete Incompetence we have come to expect?Sigh.I would still like to know just how this shower got back in, and increased their majority?

I have been told that planning permission to the developers for the Lyra block included a clause about that area being made available for local community free of charge, but the blocks were sold on without any restriction imposed (there was nothing to stop that!). Ealing council then arranged a long term lease and passed responsibilty on to the now defunct Acton Community Forum.The saga continues.

And what has happened to what should be the huge vat of community money available from the Planning Obligations/S106s/CILs levied on Developers?Serious questions need to be asked about what is going on at The Ealing Kremlin and just where these funds are being deployed?Assuming they were levied in the first place?
