Plan to close A&E departments ‘scrapped’

I am finding it difficult not to feel furious about 7 years of allowing hospital buildings to fall into disrepair whilst an idiotic plan to close parts of them was discussed and £43 million was squandered on consultants (not the doctor sort). I am no expert, but to close hospitals when our population is increasing  and living longer is surely an idiotic idea. I would have told them that for £10 - have been saying it for 7 years - and they could have saved £42,999,990 and spent it on doctors, nurses, carers and building maintenance.

Ideology: A reduced state involvement and low taxes.  What an awful lot of money has been squandered as far as the NHS is concerned - or as I suppose as you say much of it has been redirected to paying consultants (non-medical) fees to the more well off in society whilst the NHS hospitals and their users suffer from a chronic shortage of staff. Staff whose lives are made more difficult by the stresses of having to work longer hours to make up for those shortages.
