Quattro propose to relocate their Concrete Batching Plant to Acton Rail Goods Yard

You couldn't make it up, if this is Granted there will be TWO Concrete Plants within Acton Rail Goods Yard, slap bang next to a residential area.The current Hanson Concrete Plant already generates several Noise Nuisances, imagine an additional contributor.At least they have one thing right, it's a "Goods Yard", not an Industrial E$state.Quattro have a Drop-In Event at North Acton Pavilion, North Acton Playing Fields, Eastfields Road W3 0JF on Wednesday 21st November between 4 pm to 8 pm.

From the residents liaison meeting with the businesses we learnt that the plant would be on the site directly adjacent and to the north of the railway, which has been used as a building compound for Crossrail; it is not going on the waste transfer site which is nearer Lowfield Rd. The intention is that most of materials will come by rail, although not clear if any guarantees are being offered in this respect. Operating hours would be c7.30am - 5pm Monday to Saturday. No details on the size of the concrete towers.

I was told that 1000 leaflets would be distributed. I didn't get one but Saxon Drive may be too far away to warrant a flyer. The West Acton residents association has been informed. There are no details on the proposals as yet.

I suggest that you ask your neighbours.  I did this about a consultation and discovered that nobody at the end of the street where the problem was likely to be the most pronounced had received the literature.  It then took several attempts to get this out of the Council. Of course it might have been an unlucky coincidence.

Thanks for the information. I live on the Western Avenue, at the end of Friary Road, but haven't received a leaflet. Did they just leaflet that side of Horn Lane I wonder and not bother about the other side?

I agree this would be terrible. Here is the email I sent to the contract on three flyer - I will let you know what I hear back.--Dear Hugh,I have received a flyer about Quattro potentially moving their concrete batching operations to Acton Yard, with you listed as the point of contact. As the pollution levels (in the form of particles, vibration and noise) from Acton Yard already is unacceptably high, I am very concerned about any increase.Please could you provide me with further information:- What is the nature of the operation?- What are the operating days and hours?- What alternative sites and options are on the table?- What is the decision making process? - Who has the power to approve and/or block the relocation?- What is the timeline for a decision and move?Thank you very much in advance,

I wouldn't be surprised if permission was granted, everything seems to be dumped in Acton!

The proposal is for the current waste management site facing on to Horn Lane. If you live near there or travel along Horn Lane for school or work this effects you and your family. Try to pop in to the consultation or send a message to your local Councillor. All Councillors are aware of the proposal.
