I have now seen two of these.  What are they for?

Cant be anything to do with Acton Mainline parking or shopping its tucked away in Shalimar Road

It still doesn't make sense. Why take a small piece out of an existing cpz to put in a small yellow line. In both the examples here it separates one cars length from the rest whether shared bays or not. And only on one side of the road. Could the separated ones eventually be for emergency vehicles? If so why not a double yellow?

It's a yellow line. It used to just mean yellow line restrictions apply.  We have one just outside our house to the right of our drive.  There was no more space for a full parking area so they just put a yellow line there. That's what i was told when i asked.

Not for bins then, could it be where the pay and display machines will be placed although in the photo shown there is a tree so don't think so.

Would make sense but the one on East Churchfield is along park railings so no bins access required there. The most logical explanation is that it is for access between pavement and road, for various functions. But these are single yellows so parking is allowed outside restricted times and bin collections often start before enforcement starts...Is there no one on the forum who is in the know? my curiosity is piqued!

Cant be that Kim surely on this one there is no drop curb for wheelchairs but one car distance away there is a drop curb on the corner. Both these marked areas were all one CPZ now divided by a mini line also both these areas are also now part of the shared bays. The Residents only CPZ has another mini gap further up

It would make sense that it is a "Gap holder" to allow access between pavement and road for people using wheel chairs, push chairs etc. Often there is not enough space between parked cars to allow a pedestrian through, let alone a buggy.

Do the CPZ restrictions also apply to 2 wheels? They could be spaces for motorbikes.

Interesting thought but the one at the bottom of our road Where there is now shared parking has divided only one car space from the rest with one of these gaps and the other side of that one space is the corner with dropped kerbs etc for crossing the road

I too spotted the one on East Churchfield Road, and wondered - is it no parking for tiny cars?!

There is one on East Churchfield road, on the northern side of Acton Park. In the middle of the 1 hour free bays. I always believed it was a parking trap. There seems no reason for it as it would be a continuous bay were it not for that single yellow line about 1 metre long. Maybe it is for access to some mains access? will check!

Is it the separation between new Shared Bays and Residents Only bays?
