Shops on Crown Street

So the horrid and intimidating row of shops on crown street has been pulled down. (Walking from Acton Town station to the high street this was the first biggest eye sore you come across) dare I ask what’s replacing it? More unsellable flats?!

Anyone else remember Pumpkin, the lovely florist and coffee shop that used to be there?  We lived nearby and became good friends with Dave, the owner.  There was also a good Thai restaurant there for quite a few years.

My understanding and if memory serves me correctly is new flats are going up above shops. There was a thread about this last year

Sadly Italian food is not eaten by the vast majority of  Acton  residents. It is too multi cultural .

Is the High Street not already full of empty shop fronts? Plus, when new places open, Actonians need to be prepared to get out there and support them. I proffer up Genuine Italian and Tarantella restaurants, both recently closed, as examples of good venues local residents did not support.

Think so.  Shame, as they could have a lovely little section of shops there, being right opposite a gp surgery.
