Although I'm not pleased about what is happening I don't think that the Victoria Hall decision would be relevant. You can make a planning application for a property you don't own but it doesn't give you the right to implement it.

6 years later ... approved at council Planning meeting this evening.Decided not to wait for ruling on Victoria Hall.

Of course there's no way that The Powers That Be could have deliberately allowed the Hall to deteriorate to such an extent it needs to be sold off/demolished.    ;-)And missing revenue?Hmmmmmmmm.

As everyone is aware The Victoria Hall and attached rooms belong to a charitable trust, which has been mismanaged by  LBE for may years, there is no trace of the revenue they have received which should have been used to maintain the hall. I can't approve of the sell off but I can say it is in urgent need of repair and refurbishment. I attended a meeting in Victoria Hall one cold afternoon last year. The wind whistling through the doors drove the audience away until finally no one remained. No way would anyone rent it for a celebration.Does anyone know whether the Council has obtained estimates to bring the hall up to a reasonable standard for use by the residents?

Victoria Hall built with public subscriptions as a place for entertainment, meetings, events etc.  Held in trust by the Council for the people of Ealing but the earnings from renting out the hall don't seem to have been recorded...
