Gill, to be fair, a handful of shops does not a high street make. Acton High Street is woeful. It's neither a King Street, with useful shops/restaurants, nor a Ealing Broadway with useful shops/restaurants, nor a Chiswick, with some useful shops, boutiques, restaurants. No, a handful of nice shops lost in the melee of cheap fast food, estate agents, betting shops etc. I actually phoned Primark, H&M, TK Maxx etc, and asked them if they would consider opening on Acton High Street, and was told no, they would "never open there." The investment that takes place in Ealing needs to happen in Acton, otherwise the few decent places will disappear, as they are reliant purely on local footfall, and not destination places.
