A.P.P.L.E's Crowdfunder Launch

Britain is now the fat man of Europe.  We need to learn more about our food and be more thoughtful about what we buy our children to eat.The trolley-loads of sweet cereals without traffic light warnings to give a quick parental warning was interesting as was the amount of sweet cereal the children in the film were eating. Yes, saw Hugh F-W chasing slippery Jeremy Hunt. Someone needs to pin him down. So the Tory Party conference was sponsored by Tate & Lyle.  Ho hum.We definitely need to get kids understanding where their food comes from and learning to cook.

I will be watching Jamie Oliver and Hugh Fearnley Wittingstall this evening. 'BBC One at 9pm - to get the government to act on the childhood obesity crisis.'Long term- children and young people learning to cook and enjoy healthy,affordable, homecooked food is the way to go.

However since LBE are no longer in partnership with Greenredeem no local charities can be included in the scheme (so Greenredeem tell me).  There are national ones though if you still have Greenredeem points to donate.

This is the kind of community orientated project that I would have liked to have been able to donate my Greenredeem points to instead of gambling to get some piece of IT equipment or supporting a national charity (which is better than many of the things I don't want or need).

I heard Jamie Oliver on the radio this morning and then I read an article about the number of children in this country who are going hungry through poverty.  A whole generation of our society skipped gaining a good education about food - cooking, preparation and nutrition and many of the problems we face - a both ends of the scale stem from this.I've donated!
