Congesstion casused by Ealing Council for no reason.

Roads being made smaller.Massive speed bumps in Rosemont Road 4th largest in UK0 WHY??Cannot turn left at any of the roads from Acton Town Station to the Red Lion & Pineapple Pub.Cannot turn left at the Pub towards Ealing,Have to go to the Morrission's roundabout to do a u turn into a single lane due to a bike lane,and then there are suddenly 2 lanes.(So bike riders don't matter suddenly).Causing congestion from the High Street as well as traffic from Steyne Road.Brilliantly thought out by Ealing Council!Only saving grace is that currently Rosemont Road is blocked due to roadworks from Syeyne Road and the residents can sleep at night without the cars constantly hitting the massive speed bumps.Would there be a Councillor to stand up for this without blaming the other Parties.

If they made the Uxbridge Road 20mph then it would become much easier for pedestrians to cross at any point and would allow the left turn to be reintroduced.

Well i take it that no one is actually effected by the no left turn at Red Lion & Pineapple pub and having to drive to the Morrission's roundabout to go back to where you were 10 minutes before?The High Street is blocked Horn Lane is blocked.I still remain unconvinced that this is right.

The no left turn was to allow a safe crossing across the Uxbridge Road. The scheme was designed & implemented by TFL.

I get the Council didn't want a queue of pedestrians waiting for long periods, but they could have achieved the same goal with a temporary hold on the right turn INTO Gunnersbury lane to allow pedis to cross the road then "green arrow" the waiting cars

It's to allow pedestrains their own period to cross the road safely, which they didn't have before.

Peter if one is not allowed to turn left into any of the roads from Acton Town station,then why are we not allowed to turn left at the Red Lion & Pineapple?We still have to turn right and come back on ourselves at the Morrission's roundabout.Am i missing something?Is it just a money making exercise for Ealing Council?

So why did South Acton Ward councillors at a ward meeting say it was nothing to do with LBE it was a TFL decision they could do nothing about?We have not had a decent Transport Officer in about 20 years, certainly not one who knew what they were doing and looked after the residents rather than bending to TFL and Network Rail.

A quick look at crashmap.com shows no evidence that the Uxbridge Rd/Gunnersbury Lane junction was an accident blackspot before the road changes. The claim that this road is controlled by TfL is not correct. The only TfL roads in the borough are the A40 and A406 (see here: http://content.tfl.gov.uk/tfl-base-map-master.pdf). TfL are a consultee on changes to any road on which buses operate (hence in part explaining why it took so long to put a pedestrian crossing near the junction of Twyford Avenue and the Uxbridge Rd). They also control all traffic lights.

Actually the Dene Gardens/Lido crossing is diagonal, just like the one at Oxford Circus.  Unfortunately, the road has not been marked to show this, so it's easy to miss it!

Back in the mid 2000s I tried to get a pedestrian crossing at the junction of Gunnersbury Lane and the Uxbridge Road and was told that it was not possible as it would slow down the traffic too much! How times change.  What they should be putting in both here and at the Dene Gardens crossing in West Ealing are diagonal crossings as Atkins designed for Oxford Circus and based on the Shibuya crossing in Tokyo.

This is how the "No left into Uxbridge Road" was justified at the time."Surveys show that between 7am and 7pm over 2,000 people cross this junction and they have little protection while crossing. This junction is a main gateway into Acton Towncentre for pedestrians from the west, it is near two large schools, a college and other community services and it is on a key walking route to Acton Town tube station.If pedestrian phases were provided without banning the traffic movements all traffic would need to be held on a red signal. This would result in a substantial increase in queuing and delay at the junction compared to the existing situation.The banned turns would allow the pedestrian phase on one road to operate while the other road has a green traffic signal. This allows for both the pedestrian signals to beadded to the junction and the queuing and delay for vehicles to be significantly reduced compared to the existing situation."

Closing of the rat runs was a good thing, but didn't necessitate removing the left turn from Gunnersbury Lane onto the Uxbridge Road.

These road layout changes were put in place several years ago and were not done for no reason. They were done to stop through traffic using residential roads and to provide a new pedestrian period on the traffic lights at the junction of Gunnersbury Lane and Uxbridge Road.

Libby, is that right about the left turn into Uxbridge Rd? My understanding is that these are council owned and controlled roads (unlike, for example, the North Circular) although TfL will have an influence on the Uxbridge Rd as it's a major bus route.

Yes, Friday night gridlock has been going on for years.  I had a restaurant on the High Street and, on a warm Summer's day, the fumes that wafted in were so obnoxious that we had to keep the door closed.But these recent jams aren't just caused by accidents and a bit of rain (!).  There are too many cars and the traffic planning has been appalling.

The no left turn at the Red Lion and Pineapple was a TFL decision, however, LBE, I am sure could have made a serious representation to TFL pointing out the stupidity of the decision.  We frequently have tailbacks on the Uxbridge Road almost all the way to Ealing Common and  down Gunnersbury Lane past Acton Town Station, the pollution is horrendous. There are two schools on these roads and this is not good.

Well, the people who design this gridlock obviously don't live, work or visit here.I just had a lift from a friend with a car as had heavy stuff.  I feel really bad at making him so late back to his home.
