Goldsmiths Arms

Just read on Facebook that the Goldsmiths Arms is to close for good on September 24. Been a while since I was last in there, but always remember popping in after QPR games with my dad and having a drink and packet of McCoys in the beer garden back when the pub was owned by Chef & Brewer!

And when you are looking for more uses for it -  a friend was looking for a piano to do some practising on before a concert and I thought that this might also be something that a pub might accommodate...

The asset of community value status given to the Goldsmith Arms only lasts six months. That is how long we have to find a buyer who will keep the pub its outbuildings and large garden as a going concern for locals. We know that at least one pub and a religious organisation was interested so various people have offered to contact brewery chains, and so on to rally interest. Very good news. We heard today that the Council has agreed that the pub and the surrounding land will become an asset of community value. Well done Ealing Council Well done the Goldsmith Residents Association and all the great residents who made their views knows. Special thanks to Alistair Millward who wrote the cracking application and did the research.. Now we begin the campaign to save the pub. Save Goldsmith Arms. Awful pub. Past its sell buy date and doesn't offer what the public want now. No loss .

Very sad to hear about the Goldsmiths - had some enjoyable evenings there.Any chance that someone could post the details of what has been said on Facebook. I have major reservations about using that site and would suggest others avoid it if possible.

Sad news that Green King have sold the pub for development. I have memories of it from the past and it was a well managed house, big garden and gave that part of East Acton a country feel. Sad pubs are closing due to development value and we have a number of local examples. If enough people and local organisations got together it could be challenged. Get it listed as a local community asset via the Council's planning dept. Local action could challenge this vandalism.

Speaking of local pubs which will not be coming back Foley's on Acton High Street long closed has been renovated but looks unlikely to be a pub by the look of it? My brother always claimed it sold the best pint of Guinness in Acton!

Yes you are quite correct. Such a shame, the Goldsmiths Arms has been with us since 1829. Let's hope they don't knock it down!

Please show me where the Mayor's money for community funds to rescue pubs is only for those people who define as LGBT, Dennis?If it is true, then it won't take you long to provide the evidence.For everyone else, here's the Mayor's release on the subject:https://www.london.gov.uk/press-releases/mayoral/number-of-pubs-in-london-fell-by-25-since-2001 from April.You'll note that there's no mention of LGBT people.

Wouldn't it be great if Labour and the Mayor treated all communities equally! These policies create resentment and anger after all the positive developments over the last 15 yrs .
