Ealing Literary Festival lasting for 10 days
Friday 10 - 19 July
Various Locations
This year’s Literary Festival has been moved forward to July
to be one of the first events of the Ealing Summer. It's also been extended from two days to ten days to give everyone plenty of opportunity to attend activities such as reading groups, children’s story-times and various live performances.
The festival will feature a reading by Will Self from his novel
Liver, a screening of How to Lose Friends and Alienate People with author Toby Young and a history talk to mark the 150th anniversary of the construction of Brunel’s Three Bridges.
There will be plenty to entertain the whole family with visits by Kipper the Dog, activities such as Albert Pellicer’s kite poems workshop and a number of writing groups to bring out the writer in everyone.
Judging of a children’s poetry competition organised through local schools will take place during the festival. Award-winning children’s author Hiawyn Oram will be judging the entries and the top 10 prize winners will read out their poems. Hiawyn will also speak about her own books and characters, including Mona the Vampire.
Ealing Council Executive Director for Environment and Customer Services, Keith Townsend, said: “The Ealing Literary Festival will be 10 days of entertainment and activities that will inspire the imagination.
“What a great start to the summer – an event for all the family that encourages plenty of thought and creativity.”
