The Beaufort Players, one of Ealing’s longest-running and most decorated amateur theatre groups, is back with a high-energy farce that promises chaos, calamity, and plenty of laughs.

Drop Dead!, a physical comedy by Billy Van Zandt and Jane Milmore, opens Friday 21 November and runs across two weekends at the Church of the Ascension Hall, Beaufort Road, W5.

Set in the world of amateur dramatics, the play follows a troupe of hopefuls and has-beens as they attempt to stage a clichéd murder mystery under the erratic direction of Victor Le Pewe. But as the rehearsal spirals into disaster—with collapsing sets, rising body counts, and vanishing props—the cast must solve a real mystery before the curtain falls.

Performances are scheduled for:

  • Friday 21 November at 8pm
  • Saturday 22 November at 7pm
  • Friday 28 November at 8pm
  • Saturday 29 November at 7pm

Tickets are available via beaufortplayers.org.uk/boxoffice or by calling 07730 572389.

Founded in 1962, the Beaufort Players have built a reputation for inventive staging and professional-calibre performances in a modest church hall setting. The group produces three major plays a year, alongside murder mysteries, one-act evenings, and social events. They’ve twice won the NODA London Flame Award for their ability to transform limited space into compelling theatre, and for nurturing new directors and original writing.

Their home venue, the Church of the Ascension Hall, is tucked behind the church on Beaufort Road, within easy reach of North Ealing and Hanger Lane stations. Rehearsals take place every Wednesday evening, and the group welcomes new members both on and off stage.
