Samaritans at Ealing Broadway Station for 'Blue Monday'

Volunteers from the Ealing, Hammersmith & Hounslow branch of Samaritans were out in force this Monday morning (16 January) at Ealing Broadway Station to help commuters cope with Blue Monday.
With the dark mornings, the festive season over and the credit card bills coming in, the third Monday in January is reckoned to be the saddest day of the year.
Heena Johnson, director of Ealing, Hammersmith & Hounslow Samaritans said: “Let’s bin the blues! We’re making this ‘Brew Monday’ to encourage friends and family to stay connected by having a cuppa and a catch-up.”
The volunteer team handed out free teabags and listening-tip leaflets.
Heena added, “People can feel low at any point in the day, week or year and we want them to know that they are never alone. Check in with people who you care about for a cuppa and a chat as talking really can save lives. Our volunteers are available around the clock to listen to anyone who needs support this Brew Monday and every other day of the month and year, 24/7.”
Ever since 21 January 1972, Ealing, Hammersmith & Hounslow Samaritans volunteers have provided confidential emotional support to the West London community and beyond
The Branch is a collective effort of some 150 people -- unpaid volunteers from all walks of life who, 365 days of the year, provide confidential emotional support for people who are experiencing feelings of distress or despair, including those which may lead to suicide.
Every 10 seconds, Samaritans responds to a call for help, offering emotional support by phone and email.
