A new documentary feature film that tells the story of the legendary Ealing-born Nicky Hopkins is looking for funding to enable distribution.

The Session Man tells the story of the highly gifted and prolific session pianist, and unsung hero, who played with The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Kinks, The Who, Jeff Beck and many more.

The film is narrated by Bob Harris and features interviews about Nicky with Keith Richards, Pete Townshend, Bill Wyman, Graham Parker, Harry Shearer and Nils Lofgren among many other major figures from the world of music. Also appearing in the film’s trailer are Ronnie Wood, Dave Davies of The Kinks and Rod Stewart.

The film is finished and is now ready for distribution. But to get it released, the 39 tracks that feature Nicky’s contributions must be licensed, which is an expensive business.

A crowdfunder has been launched to cover the cost of the music licenses for the film festivals to get The Session Man to film distributors.

So far less than £1,000 has been raised towards the £20,000 needed.
