Irish company plan Gillette Corner Hotel


500 room hotel plus office complex to be built

An Irish based hotel group have submitted plans for a 500 room hotel on the Gillette site on the A4. The Bonnington Group, which has hotels in England, Ireland and Dubai want to build the hotel on the site of the former European HQ of the Gillette Group. There would also be office space on the site.

Gillette decided to vacated the building after most of their production was moved to Eastern Europe. They will have completely moved out by the end of this year and work is expected to start on the new project in Summer 2007.

The group own the Bonnington Hotel in Bloomsbury as well as the Cavendish hotel in Brighton. They bought the site from Gillette last year for £32 million. The hotel would be known as Bonnington at Gillette Corner.

The Bonnington Group are planning a listing later this year.
