The successful squad that participated in the Indoor Rowing event
May 22, 2025
Athletes from Brentford Boat Club were members of a team from the borough of Hounslow that gained a bronze medal in the recent London Youth Games Indoor Rowing Event.
The competition, which was held at the Gunnersbury Park Sports Hub this Sunday (8 June), saw them come up against hundreds of children from 12 other London Boroughs.
Whilst they were not the biggest group participating, they were awarded Silver in the team relay and came third overall, which the club says is testament to the hard work and sheer willpower of the rowers.
Brentford Club Chair Emily Wolski said, “We were thrilled to have so many Club athletes take part in the London Youth Games, a Charity close to our hearts and ethos, which recognizes the power of sport to elevate young Londoners. Our Rowers and the Hounslow Athletes showed fantastic team
spirit and we are looking forward to Silver or Gold next year!
In tightly contested events, amongst a very high standard of rowing, special mention goes to the Brentford Boat Club medallists representing their borough:
Year 8: Stanley Cooper, Jacob Mecham
Year 9: Alex Duarte Rebelo
Year 10: Jacob Adjei, Angelos Karagiannis, Patrick Keating
Year 11: Ethan Mecham
Ms Wolski added, “There is a long history of rowing in Hounslow and with the support of Hounslow Council we look forward to helping to ensure that this continues for the next generation of young Londoners. We also congratulate the new Hounslow Mayor Amy Croft on her appointment and look forward to welcoming her to Ferry Quays and onboard one of our boats soon”.
