Lidl is inviting Brentford residents to come along to the Grand Opening of its High Street store.

It will require an early start next Thursday (5 June) with the Mayor of Hounslow, the recently appointed Amy Croft, due to cut the ribbon at around 7am.

Local children from St Paul's CofE Primary School will also help with the official opening.

From the first day of trading to Saturday 7 June, shoppers can look forward to complimentary food sampling as well as some special prizes up for grabs. The store will be open from 7am–10pm Monday to Saturday and 10am–4pm on Sundays.

Spanning 1,439m², it will feature the discounter’s in-store bakery, Middle of Lidl, and customer facilities, including toilets with baby-changing stations. Outside, there will be parking for cars and bicycles.

The ‘multi-million pound’ investment is expected to create around 40 new jobs, with Lidl claiming its staff receive one of the highest rates of pay in the sector.

Grant Shulton, Regional Head of Property at Lidl GB, commented, “We’re thrilled to be joining the community in Brentford and are excited to welcome the first shoppers through our doors. We’ve been creating Lidl fans across the capital and are excited to now bring our much-loved products to shoppers here. Thank you to everyone who has played a part in helping to make this store a reality. It’s always an exciting moment when we’re finally able to see our plans come to life and make a difference to local communities.”

Ahead of its latest store opening the discounter is encouraging nearby Primary schools to join in the new Lidl Foodies Programme; a free initiative to provide teachers with resources to help children across the country develop a love for healthy eating. With around 10% of Primary schools in GB already participating, local teachers who want to take part are encouraged to sign up via the National Schools Partnership website to make the most of Lidl’s ready-made workshop plans.
