Acton’s ActOne Cinema will mark a major musical milestone this weekend with two special preview screenings of 50 Years of Punk, a new documentary exploring the birth, evolution and lasting influence of one of Britain’s most disruptive cultural movements.

The film, directed by Mark Sloper, traces punk’s eruption on London’s King’s Road and charts how a scene built on DIY energy, individuality and creative rebellion reshaped music, fashion and identity. Drawing on interviews with many of the artists who lived it, the documentary offers what its makers describe as the most authentic insider account yet of punk’s first half‑century.

The line‑up of contributors reads like a who’s who of the era: Hugh Cornwell, Dave Vanian, Vivienne Westwood, Rat Scabies, Gaye Advert, Richard Jobson, Glen Matlock, Jah Wobble, Terry Chimes, Tony James, Viv Albertine and others share memories, footage and reflections on a movement that, as the film argues, was always more than music — it was a way of life.

ActOne will host two preview screenings on Sunday 28 June at 2.45pm and 3.30pm, each followed by a Q&A with former Clash drummer Terry Chimes, who appears in the film, and director Mark Sloper. The documentary is due for wider UK cinema release in September.

Tickets and event details are available via ActOne Cinema.
