The Vue Acton cinema on Western Avenue Park Royal will not be reopening having closed this March due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The closure was confirmed in an email to Rupa Huq MP from the company’s representative David Cameron. He explained that the company had requested a new lease but the landlord informed them that they were considering redeveloping the site.

The Vue signage has already been removed from the site of the nine screen multiplex cinema which opened in the nineties.

Acton may not be left without a cinema for long with plans for a two screen theatre in the Old Library on the High Street recently given the go ahead.

A spokesperson for Vue Entertainment said,“We have been in negotiations with our landlord since early 2019. Unfortunately, our formal request for a new lease was opposed by our landlord, citing redevelopment grounds. Despite numerous attempts to keep negotiations alive, including short-term extensions of our lease, we were left with no option except to close the site. Following a formal consultation period, a number of colleagues have been made redundant. We are providing as much support as possible for everyone affected during this difficult time.”

Westfield or Harrow are the sites closest to Acton for customers affected by the closure.
