Richard White, Mill Hill Park Estate and Founder of Law Society to be honoured
Richard Barnes, Deputy Mayor of London, will be unveiling a plaque in Acton at 3.00 pm on Sunday 19th June, to the eminent 19th century lawyer, Richard White, co-founder of the Law Society, and creator of the Mill Hill Park estate.
The plaque – generously paid for by Ealing Council – is fixed to a fragment of White’s Regency mansion, Mill Hill House, built by him between 1809 and 1811, when Acton was mostly open fields.
Two hundred years – and much building – later, this ceremony in his honour will take place outside this much altered, architectural remnant, now known as 11, Avenue Crescent.
Richard Barnes, Deputy Mayor of London has kindly agreed to unveil the plaque, and to add a few words – although it remains to be seen if any of them will be in Norwegian, Danish, Swedish or French – in all of which, Barnes is famously fluent.
Everyone is welcome to join The Deputy Mayor, representatives of Ealing Council, the residents of Mill Hill Park and others for this public celebration of Richard White’s contribution to Acton’s fascinating local history.
