Thirty people needed to be evacuated from a residential care home in Acton in the early hours of Thursday morning (2 December).

Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to the incident on Gunnersbury Lane at 2.20am and the fire was under control just over an hour later. Fire crews from Acton, Chiswick, Ealing and Park Royal fire stations attended .

There have been no reports of any injuries and the building was cleared before the Fire Brigade arrived.

A small part of a water storage heater in a boiler room on the second floor of the building was damaged by fire. It is believed that the fire was caused by an electrical fault in a water heater tank.

A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said, “On arrival crews noticed a strong smell of burning and carried out a search of the building.

“Firefighters used thermal imaging cameras to locate the fire and worked incredibly hard to quickly bring it under control.”
