Man Charged with Murder After Askew Road Stabbing

A man has appeared in court charged with murder and attempted murder following a violent domestic incident in Shepherd’s Bush that left 52-year-old grandmother Samantha Turner dead and her daughter Keeley Turner, 32, seriously injured.
Emergency services were called to the family home on Askew Road at 8.19am on Sunday 18 August, after Keeley Turner phoned 999 saying: “Hurry up man, he’s going to kill her.” Prosecutor Philip McGhee told the Old Bailey that the allegations involved a “murderous attack” with a knife “in a domestic setting.”
During the hearing, the court was told that Keeley Turner had been upstairs when she heard her mother scream. She ran downstairs and attempted to intervene. The defendant allegedly stabbed her first in the abdomen and then in the back. Despite her injuries, she managed to call for help.
When officers arrived, they found Samantha Turner lying on the kitchen floor with multiple stab wounds. She was pronounced dead at 8.54am. A postmortem examination later identified around 70 sharpforce injuries, inflicted with what prosecutors described as “severe force”.
The suspect, Alan Dore, 48, from Shepherd’s Bush, was arrested in a bedroom of the property. He had been in a relationship with Samantha Turner for about a year and lived nearby. Dore appeared at the Old Bailey via video link from Wandsworth prison, confirming his identity as he was charged with murder and attempted murder.
Keeley Turner remains in hospital. Her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
A timetable has been set for the case, with a plea hearing on 9 November and a provisional threeweek trial beginning on 17 May next year. Dore has been remanded in custody.
Detective Inspector Richard MacKenzie, who is leading the investigation, previously described the incident as “deeply tragic” and said officers were working quickly to establish what happened inside the property. Police have asked anyone with information, CCTV or doorbell footage to come forward.
