A recent South Acton Ward Panel has set out the priorities for the local police team.
Based on the results of the most recent quarterly crime survey for the ward, the focus of the Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) will be tackling drug dealing, parcel theft and the fear of crime
For the next three months, the team will use "hotspot" tactics at peak times to patrol areas identified by local residents and businesses. These include the area around the junction of Bollo Bridge Road and Strafford Road and where Berrymead Gardens meets the High Street.
Sergeant Matt Buckland said, "Our response is to adopt hotspot policing tactics over the next three months to deter violence, anti-social behaviour and other forms of criminality. We will use data from the reporting of crime and anti-social behaviour to target our patrols at peak times.
"These tactics are aimed at providing a visible police presence, to deter and disrupt those engaged in crime or anti-social behaviour ASB and to reassure the local community."
On parcel theft, the police will use the same approach around Enfield Road, Streamdale Road, Hanbury Road, Osbourne Road and Whelan Road. The police say that a similar operation last year in another area of South Acton was found to be highly effective.
Peter Robertson, South Acton Ward Panel Chair, said, "We welcome the response by Sgt. Buckland and his team to the survey's results. The more people who take part in the quarterly surveys the better as the data helps build a picture of local concerns and where the police can target their resources. Please take two minutes to fill in one when it's next distributed on social media."
Ward panels are based on local council ward areas and made up of local residents, borough councillors, local businesses and other interested organisations. They are open to anyone living, studying or working in South Acton. The panel is responsible for setting neighbourhood priorities for the local police team every quarter.
The next meeting will be on 30 April. If you'd like to attend or for more information about the SNT, visit this link.
