Acton Police Station Attacked with Fireworks on Halloween

Serious disorder took place in the centre of Acton this Tuesday (31 October) with gangs of youths letting off fireworks and the police station being attacked.

It is understood that some of the Halloween disruption was organised beforehand with groups being observed on the High Street, the Mount and Churchfield Road as soon as it became dark. One of the fireworks discharged smashed a window at St Mary’s Church.

The Metropolitan Police had said two days previously that it was aware that a possible ‘disorder event’ was being planned in the area.

At around 8:10pm two people were observed approaching the front door of Acton Police Station and directing several fireworks at it at close range.

A video posted on social media shows a man who had been carrying a shopping bag tackling the culprits and pinning one to the ground. It is not known if he was a member of the public or a plain clothes police officer.

Officers inside the station requested assistance from the Territorial Support Group and three men were arrested. One officer was treated for minor injuries.

 

Enquiries into the events of the night continue and anyone with information that could assist police is asked to call 101 or ‘X’ @MetCC and quote CAD8017/31Oct.
