A 77-year-old woman was found dead this Sunday (25 June) in a house in Park Royal leading to the launch of a murder investigation.

The police say they were called at 6:39pm by neighbours on Harold Road who were concerned for the welfare of the woman.

When officers arrived along with London Ambulance Service, they found that she had already been killed. A postmortem later revealed the cause of death to be a head injury.

A 74-year-old man, who was known to the victim, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder. He was taken to hospital due to concerns for his health.

Flowers have been left outside the woman's home with neighbours describing her as 'a lovely lady'.

Detectives from the Met's Specialist Crime Command are investigating.

Detective Superintendent Rebecca Reeves of the Met’s West Area Command said, “I know that local people will be shocked by this incident and additional foot patrols are being conducted to reassure the community.

“Our colleagues from the Specialist Crime Command are progressing their investigation. One person has been arrested and we aren’t seeking anyone else in connection with this incident.

“I encourage anyone with concerns to speak with officers on patrol or contact their neighbourhood policing team.

“Our thoughts are very much with the victim’s family.”
