A 21-year-old woman from Acton is to face trial accused of stabbing her mother to death.

Hanna Bennis is being charged with the murder of 58-year-old Aziza Bennis who worked as a dinner lady.

At around 3.40pm on Monday 15 August, neighbours heard screams coming from a flat in Boddington Gardens. Officers forced their way into the property and found Mrs Bennis lying on the floor having received multiple stab wounds.

Paramedics, including those from a London’s Air Ambulance helicopter, attempted to resuscitate her, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her daughter was treated for a non-life-threatening injury and was taken to hospital. She was charged with murder two days later.

On Friday 19 August Hanna Bennis appeared at the Old Bailey by video link from HMP Bronzefield where she remains in custody.

A plea hearing is set to take place on 4 November with a trial date provisionally set for July of next year. Hanna Bennis will remain in custody until that time.
